this male Superb Fairy Wren is losing his plumage colours quite markedly now
He wasn't cooperative and sang a little song then departed.
I was hoping, anticipating he'd swing around the other

By no means an expert opinion, possibly Swamp harrier.
If you google, you may see some photos or description that helps.
At mdahlem.net there are photos of the underside of the wings with a distinctive pattern.
Physical description is quite thorough too.
If it is Swamp harrier, probably juvenile. Breeding is Oct-Dec.

Thanks Dave
that looks like it.
I see its underside is very light. Tawny brown and outer parts of wing are much much lighter. Distinct cutoff between two colours/shades

Here's one (juvenile) I prepared earlier. March 2021, East of Hay, NSW.
I did not know what it was at the time.

Did Kakadu for the day and whilst we didnt see much in morning the afternoon was nuts. We saw the following in the space of a couple of hrs

1. Feral Water Buffalo( was terrorising the passing cars )
2. Goanna who quickly disappeared into the long grass as we got closer
3. Frill necked Lizard we nearly ran over
4. Wild Donkey( That was a first for me ) on a track we took. Another animal that took off when we got a little closer :)
5. Mum and Baby Crocodile. We nearly swam in the creek on the other side of the tracks concrete passover Mum was resting on! . Lucky we decided against it as we only spotted them on the way back up the track . Junior put on a really good performance for us doing what seemed like a floating dog paddle until mum called him back .
6. Snake, not sure what type as it quickly left the track when it saw us thank god !
7. 3 Orb spiders one of which we walked into as his web was spread across the track. Not a good up close nature experience thats for sure :)
8. A bandicoot which is a very rare occurance for me spotting them. Only ever seen one other before coming across this guy so was a good find.
9. And of course some the birds we were after on the day which were , ...Northern Rosellas , Partridge Pigeons ,Chestnut Quilled Rock pigeon white lined Honeyeater , White throated grasswren. Missed out getting any images of the Chestnut Quilled Rock Pigeon Whitelined Honeyeater and Grass wren but got the others .

Here are a couple from today

1. Northern Rosella

2. Partridge Pigeon

A first for me also! Their face /color around eye reminds me a lot of a spinifex pigeon

That Rosella is very nicely captured.
They certainly have very distinctive plumage.
Sounds like an interesting day out.

Ferals must be a pain. Didn't envisage donkeys :-(

You certainly live dangerously Clipper - roads covered in snakes, venomous spiders trying to trap you and swimming with crocodiles! A few armed bandits would have just about completed your day.:-)

Nice pictures though - Well done - please keep ’em coming.

Lol donkeys, pigs, cattle, water buffalo, horses, cats, dogs, cane toads, even geckoes! And that's just in the Top End. It's a wonder there're any native animals left. At least we don't have feral birds or fish.
