male top, and female lower, Superb Fairy Wren
the male has lost all his glorious colours but retained a blue tail that I imagine will be with him through winter
there are between 6 & 8 wrens that regularly congregate and do their rounds of the house in search of food and just seeming to socialise.
Latter is quite interesting and I'm not sure if they're being amorous or just playing

Beautiful!!

Thank you Oz! It's already looking a bit fat, though I reckon it'll be a lot thinner by the time it gets to the arctic.

Grey Fantail
these are such endearing birds with looks to match
Their antics are second to none amongst the small birds here,
Currently we have two rather playful beauties gracing our yard

Hah! No way Pippan
With the wife there they wouldn't stand a chance just as whingy kids didn't

No, not really. As far as antics go the wrens take back stage to a Cranky Fan.
These do loop the loop over and around you, land about a metre away, stare then up and off only to repeat.
Just as you think the show is over they are back and it starts again.

The wrens have a very real charm though

Yes the eyes are what grabs you as they fearlessly flit about staring straight at you. Amazing to watch

Very beautiful photos

thanks Lynn, much appreciated.

Recently they have flown about in a group and seem much more friendly than they have been in past. I suppose they know me better and we just get on with life together.
