Great Egret taking flight at Fogg Dam.

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

Great Egret taking flight at Fogg Dam.

They're such graceful birds (when not fighting)
Beautiful capture

photo shoot went well today and the trusty, uncomplaining models turned out en masse
note it was entirely voluntary and their welfare was not compromised so no need to phone the RSPCA

from drier times
Black-faced Cuckoo-shrike ~ Coracina novaehollandiae
Once widely known as the Summer Bird
being widespread I guess most Aussies are familiar with them
I love hearing them and seeing them though they aren't as plentiful as several years ago and this one appeared briefly high up in the foliage then disappeared
the distinct call of the Summer Bird (external link)

one of the smallest Tasmanian birds
Brown Thornbill up to 10cm & 7 gms
a very pretty little bird, very active but a real pleasure to watch as it browses for insects all over and under fences, bark, anywhere likely a poor unsuspecting next meal lurks
often they can be heard cheeping in the canopy then suddenly they descend onto lower branches.
They mingle with our wrens and it's common to see them foraging together
