Do all your shots from Argyle show such big heads? They look much bigger (and the wings bluer) than those here, but the books say they're all the same race.

.SHot with a telephoto so no distortion like a wide angle would give so I can only guess that its either the angle or its a deformed bird :) Blue is normal....I checked lightroom and it gave it the std auto plugin. It was late afternoon so maybe thats made a differenc e when the wb adjusted

Parenting Jacana-style - managed to spot the little Jacana chicks with their parent at Fogg Dam today. How cute are they peaking out through the feathers :-)

Rose Crowned Dove from today. These are a hard bird to get a decent shot of because they dont come very close and normally stay high high in a tree so very lucky with this capture!

Damn lucky! Or more likely skilful. I've been trying to get a decent shot of one of these for months!

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

Actually can thank a local teenage birder for this . He was standing on the boardwalk at casuarina eagerly trying spot some birds with his binos asI sat at the end of boardwalk absolutely stuffed after standing 1 1/2hrs in the sun this afternoon seeing absolutely nothing. .. I said to him you go stand in the sun and if you see anything worthwhile shooting let me know. But only let me know if its clear of foliage , lower down rather than high up and worthwile getting up to go shoot :):)...He sAID ok and true to his word he yelled out ........ got one for you thats in full view.and down low like you said you wanted !!! .......hahahahah. Nearly fell into the bloody swamp trying to get to get off my little bunnings stool but ended up getting the other side of the boarwalk in time to get the shot. ! I thanked him for spotting it and told him he could be my spotter anytime he likes :)

Masked Lapwing (Spur-winged Plover) - Vanellus Miles
these seem to be more bold than ever
today they were right in the heart of town on the apron of the petrol station oblivious to all and sundry
I was tempted to stop and take a photo but with so many people (tourists) about decided not to

These were on a side street

Australian Shelduck ~ Tadorna tadornoides
magnificent birds. These live at a local arboretum with several small dams
Not sure why they built the platform so far from shore? Bit far to see
