Final one...couple of pied Herons about to have a fight. didnt get any more of fight as the bloody camera froze after this frame and need to be reset . Camera is worse now with firmware update . Not sure what canon have done but the freezing has come back again after an absence of 4 months along with knocking sounds of either IS or AF in lens. . Its definately a Canon firmware problem because it started freezing again immediately after the firmware update after it had been good for 2 previous updates. . Shame cant roll back firmware however if this continues at the frequency Im getting at the moment I think I will send the Camera back to canon and request them to roll back firmware.

Nice shot. It's a White-necked Heron (Ardea pacifica). It landed up the other end from where we were sitting late afternoon a few days ago but I couldn't get close enough for a decent shot before it got too dark.

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

It's a rufous-morphed pied heron. I got some photos earlier and got this confirmed through the NT Field Naturalist group.

It's a rufous-morphed pied heron. A white-necked heron has a black beak in adults and juveniles. Thought the same at first. The morphed once can be more or less rufous like this one ;-)a

Ah yes, I see. I didn't look closely enough and assumed it was the same unusual heron I saw a few days ago, which was a White-necked Heron, as per my crappy for-the-record snapshot taken in the evening gloom as I was leaving. I haven't seen one of these at Fogg Dam before either.

Superb Fairy Wrens
looked out the window few days ago and there were 4 wrens enjoying the early sun.
Time I gathered the camera there were three. They were a fair way off so just grabbed a couple of shots and then they were gone
