Azure Kingfisher - one of the birds I never get tired of photographing. :-)

That's a beauty!

Here we have the endearing Eastern Yellow Robin, an inquisitive, quite bold bird that will often flutter down to a nearby branch or post to get a closer look at you.:-)

Male and Female Regent Bowerbirds, taken last week in the Lamington National Park.

The male can often be seen as a golden yellow dart flitting through the canopy in search of fruit.:-)

One of the local Rangers suggested that the Female plumage is more drab, so she is less conspicuous when sitting on the nest.

Cheers

Dennis

Forest Raven ~ Corvus tasmanicus
this bird bangs on a window with its wings
Quite interesting and very noisy as it flys to the window, feet forward then FLAP as its wings crash into the window constantly

Hi Richard

Do you think the bird is attacking its own reflection, believing it to be a trespasser?

Cheers

We've wondered that.
It's only one window and on a fully enclosed verandah so probably makes for a good mirror surface.
There's two ravens but only one with that behaviour. The mate sits on grass and waits.
They have got a lot tamer and now sit close to the house. Once they would be gone at the slightest noise or visual distraction
here they are sitting on a gate about 25 metres from the house

Junior ran to the edge of the forest, into some nicer light and then froze, after dad raised the alarm whilst he remained in the gloom of the rainforest.

The male Log Runner has a whitish chest whereas the female’s chest is more of a reddish hue.

After the all clear, dad and junior scampered across the open patch in front of me and disappeared into the undergrowth.:-)

Cheers

Dennis

That's a beauty Richard, I hadn't observed the russet/red tone in these birds before, the front end looks almost like a Rufous Fantail without the white throat. :-)

Cheers

Dennis
