Latest one of Jade and friend

That is one impressive Wedge-tailed Eagle. The intensity of their eyes is quite striking.

Cheers

That is very nice. I like how you have managed to retain the texture and detail in the feathers. I often see these “blocked” up, especially the bright blues, greens and yellows with these outrageously colourful characters...

Cheers

Dennis

Thanks.....Interesting you make that comment about blocky colors as I too have noticed this...Infact I noticed it with quite a few of my own lorikeet shots but the blocky colors tended to happen with my older 5dM2 not the 5dsr. This 5dsr has never really had that block problem of the colors ...Maybe Ive just been lucky so far ..... ...Maybe its not as prevalent with 5dsrdue to the anti aliasing filter being bypassed and that coupled with 50Mp high resolution detail has some effect .....Infact up until this camera I tended to avoid lorikeetsb because of the color/contrast problem in correction because of all the strong colors especially in the yellow/oranges where it can get real blocky!... And especially if they are taken in strong sunlight....which I try and avoid. These lorikeet images were taken in subdued/indirect sunlight light ( was bright but slightly overcast day)which I find helps heaps .....Also not many birds you can say have ourageous colors but I agree the Lorikeet is definately one of them!. The other bird I find difficult balancing is the Rosella( eastern etc)....I just cant seem to get the red colors the way I want them..... Red isnt the best of colors to work with in Digital anyway and no matter what I do Im never really 100% happy with the final colors...

^^ Agree. Shot in full sun my lorikeet images always look over-saturated whereas when overcast, they look OK, although some folk think they are still over-saturated because they can't believe how bright the colours are IRL. The rosella pics OTOH, always look de-saturated and for some strange reason, give me the impression of being OOF. They just never look sharp to me

Once again Noisy miners alerted me to something cool, a pair of Channel-billed Cuckoos.
One of them visited a nest, not sure if it was long enough for an egg to be left in it. I suspect if not, it will be soon.
Local spot so I'll get to watch the poor unsuspecting parent or parents feed their surprisingly large chick

Nice Dave. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think these indeed are also known as the "Storm Bird"?

Lovely bird. Australia has some amazing wildlife. Definitely on my bucket list of places I'd love to visit.

Yes, the one at O'Reillys I think as she's just got back from a few days up there and these just appeared on her facebook.

I'd love to make a trip to Australia! So much cool stuff to see! I envy her job too, as I love birds of prey!
