Here we have a male and female Red-backed Fairywren taken in our local Toohey Forest this morning.

The male was rude and kept his back turned.

On my walk in our local Toohey Forest I came across a small flock of Red-browed Finches feeding on the ground.

Yesterday was a rainy day. Mum Butcherbird brought her young to our veranda and it stayed here for hours, sometimes mum came and the juvenile was begging for food.

Red-backed Fairy-wrens, Malurus melanocephalus race melanocephalus, on K'gari, eastern Australia, male above and female. These tiny fairy-wrens are 4 1/2" long including tail, and very restless. The males of this race have a far more orange patch than the rich red of those I'm used to seeing in northern Australia.

Another of Australia's extraordinarily pretty native birds. This one's a Noisy Friarbird, Philemon corniculatus, on K'gari in eastern Australia.

Thanks Ulrike, not quite. Had to change plans and I'm back in Darwin for a couple of weeks, then the trip begins.:)
