I shot some birds with my 150-600 Sigma Sports lens. Showed them in that thread on POTN ( https://photography-on-the.net …showthread.php?p=18408160 )
But I am not sure what birds they are (not very good at that). So can the experts please give me some info?

The first photo is of a Willie Wagtail and the second is of an Eastern Yellow Robin.

Spotted this old termite mound on a tree trunk, some 12-15 metres up and a Kookaburra flew out as we passed by.:-)

Returning the next day, I managed to capture a few frames of the bird entering/exiting the re-purposed mound. I didn't hang around for too long, as the nest location is near a walking track and I didn't want to spook the birds or draw any unwelcome attention to them.:-)

Cheers

Dennis

This time I took the 70-200mm F2.8L for a wider shot to see if I could get an entry and exit sequence. I don't stay for long just to minimise any potential stress on the birds, even though the nest is on a walking track. I managed the entry sequence where the bird flew across the camera, but the in the exit sequence the bird flew down the throat of the lens and I was on manual focus on the nest entrance, so no in-focus sequence there.

Cheers

Dennis

This is a male great bower bird showing off his purple patch. This patch becomes prominent during the breeding season and a good one is important to his chances of attracting a female.

More important to his chances though, is a good bower. This avenue of woven sticks is decorated all around and inside with white and silver/grey objects: snail shells, rocks, sea shells, alfoil, ring-pulls, champagne cork cages, tablet blister packs etc. (this one is next to a campground) and highlighted in the corners with green leaves and broken green bottle glass. He spends much time fussing over his bower and its decorations to make the whole show just right. When a female is lured into the bower he starts a frantic courtship display that includes showing off his purple patch and his many trinkets while dancing and rushing about. If she's impressed they'll mate in the bower and she'll go off and build a nest in a tree, while he turns his attention to the next pretty girl. If she's not impressed and he's lucky, she'll just leave; if he's not lucky she'll trash the bower and its decorations, and he'll have to start over from scratch. The things boys do to attract girls ...
