I prefer to be in the bush with the animals than a crowded city.

That's a beauty :-)
Love the look on its face.
Very nice indeed.
I love your Robber Fly photo. Suppose we get them? Don't take much notice unless they're March flies and my patience for them is non existent.

Very nice to see you posting again.

in shot thoughcurrently in NT and have come across some birds Ive been after for a while like red tailed cockatoo. I just can never seem to be able to get the damn red tail feathers in the shot though !!:) These guys were out the front of the hotel Im staying at in Darwin happily filling their face full of some sort of berry that was on the tree. There were a half a dozen gutsing themselves however after I got too close this guy he signalled them all and they took off......Will be back tomorrow to see if they have returned so I can get that damn red tail :)

Psst, that's a girl Clipper, and very pretty too.:) Only the boys have the red tail feathers (the girls' tail feathers are mostly yellow with a tinge of red) and even on the boys the red is hard to see unless they fan out their tails, usually when landing. You're lucky to see them at this time of year; they're common in the dry season but not so much now.

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

Yes it's a rose-crowned fruit dove, Ptilinopus regina. I'm impressed, you don't see them very often.

Here we have the (300mm F2.8L Mk II) + (Extension Tube EF-25 II 25mm) + (EF 1.4x III Extender) taken in the Mt Coot-tha Botanical Gardens, where these birds are quite used to people.

Although the eye detail on the Bush Thick Knee bird is not quite macro quality, it remains very good.

Cheers

Dennis

Great stuff, love the detail...

The somewhat elusive and reclusive Green Cat Bird - named after its wailing, akin a crying or wailing cat.:-)

Taken in the Lamington National Park.

Cheers

Scarlet Robin ~ Petroica boodang (think I got that right. Not a usual bird for me)
surprised by this beauty that popped into view
I wished he'd hung around and allowed some better shots - another day :-)
