I don't have this lens yet but I plan on getting it and I was wondering if any of you have bought a pelican case for this set up. I want to stay as small as I can and would like it to fit in the case hooked together. Any of you have a suggestion on the size case I would need? Thanks in advance

I set up a 1450 Pelican case to carry my 7d with a 100-400mm with a 2x extender out on my kayak (needed to be waterproof and float :) ). I wanted everything assembled ready to shoot quickly. Works great in the field and is good, durable storage. I attached a photo, shown with my 5d body.

Lengths:
Inside width of the Pelican 1450 is 15".
Camera + Lens + extender length = 12 1/2"
Canon 100-400mm length = 7.4"
100-400mm with 2x = 9.5"
Tamron 150-600mm spec = 10.1"

I chose a case size that would allow enough padding on the ends (in my setup 1 1/2") to survive being dropped on an end.

regards,
dms

Heya,

I too have a Pelican 1450. And I have the 150-600 Tamon. It fits fine, connected to my camera, with grip and collar on, with hood reversed and barrel locked at 150, with about an inch or so on each side, of foam. So not too snug, but no wasted space either (room for other things too, as it's mostly horizontal).

Very best,

Try to get the 1510 (with dividers), since the cases are so expensive, try to get the most for your money, and this still fits TSA dimensions as carry-on. I can fit the following in mine:

- Sigma 50-500 OS (bigger than the Tamron)
- 5D3 with grip
- 70-200L
- 50 1.4
- 11-16 2.8
- 580 flash
- 100L
- 24-170L

Gives you room to grow, and you can still travel with it. It has the pull out handle and wheels too.

Thanks for the info. I want this case to stay very portable so the 1450 looks perfect for size.
