Just got a meike grip for the 6d. When I put some of my 3rd party no name batteries in, the battery indicator says there is nothing left. But if I put the battery directly into the camera, indicator says battery is full. Has anyone experience the same?

Yes. Take them back and get real canon genuines. Keep the grip, though.

I believe a firmware update prevented them from working.

My Meike grip and STK batteries work 100% with charging and reporting from the camera. I agree with Jon, keep the grip and get different batteries.

Agree have STK and Photive batteries and both work fine.

I moved the no name battery to the other spot inside the grip and it is now working fine. I used this battery directly inside the camera for the past year without any issues.

I took a leap and bought Wasabi batteries for my 6D. They work just fine. I can't get past all the bad reviews for all of the after-market grips for the 6D. That tells me that Canon changed something, and nobody else knows exactly what it was. I'll save for a Canon grip. Or put it on my Christmas list for this year.
