Floaters

I was watching my kids on the shore when these floaters (wheel interiors) caught my attention and took this shot... Does it tell a story or just a plain snapshot? Im ready for hard critique guys, composition to be particular but you can comment on other details though... 70D with 24 105 lens, no filter used, shot as jpeg and no post processing made. Thanks in advance.

Sorry to say, the story is weak. We don't see his face. We don't know what he's looking at. He's looking out the edge of the image instead of into the middle. The tubes are apparently what attracted your attention. But you cut off a couple of them.

There's usually a need for an additional step or two between the "caught my attention" and "took the shot". That seems apparent here.

Agree with Joe 100%....the heavy cropping and framing has hidden any story.

He's looking left so I want to see what he's looking at. If it was someone in a tube in the river & we could see that, then the image would tell the story better.

We call them "salva vida" actually but I think "tubes" is a better term for them.

Thanks for the comments guys, will certainly help improve my "EYES" in photography. Let me post another photo and please tell me if it shows the same level of weakness, if you dont mind.

Yeah, this was shot in jpeg with a blown bg, I cant trim the halo in highlight and shadows adjustment in PS6. Thanks

I like the second image. Looking at the expression on the face of the guy on the right, I suspect that the guy in front may be getting wet soon? ; D
