Opinions of fruit photos as a set

Opinions on this set of photos of fruits and veggies. I plan on printing them on putting them in my kitchen. Going for a color spectrum look from red to purple.

I like them. I think they will work for what you intend.

Now that I look at it, the apple has too much negative space on top. I could probably fill the shot with more of the apple.

I feel like I just read an IQ test question: which one doesn't belong?

I love the photographs but am wondering if cabbage is a fruit.

One suggestion: my wife is an interior designer and I just asked her if groupings of odd numbers work better than even numbers. She says "usually"... one larger photograph surrounded by the other 4... or the 5 grouped creatively somehow. Anyway, you might consider if you want the cabbage included if you think an odd number will look better than all six.

I like them! I can easily see these being in a restaurant or cafe somewhere...
now, the red in the apple throws me a bit, but maybe my monitor is out of whack too.
But overall I think they're great. I second the "is cabbage a fruit?" thought, but I do like
that shot...it just might look odd next to blue berries and bananas.

Yeah it's not a fruit, but I couldn't find any two things in the blue/purple family that weren't very similar. I could do grapes, but that is too close to the blueberries. If I take the blueberries out, what else could I use for blue?

Nice Detail. I would think those would sell to someone for stock advertising quite easily. Consistent.

Overall very nice, but I don't think the apple shot is at the same level of the other ones. The blue background is probably ruining it for me. It casts a purple color on the edges of the apple.
The cabbage looks a tiny bit underexposed on my screen. I'd crop out the bottom right corner in the blueberries shot.

Actually I plan on printing these as 5x7 so both the apple and the blueberries have tighter crops.

Yes, the apple does have a bit of a purple to it, I'll have to work on that.

I love the blueberries! Just crop out the little hint of white and it's perfect. Great detail and true to life color! By far the best one of the whole set.

As for the rest, the crops of each feel a little too tight. I would open them up a little and give them more air.

The orange and bananas look a little soft.

Also, perhaps desaturating a little. The oranges are on the verge of glowing.

I like them, and I think the project is really awesome.

A couple of suggestions;

The photos alternate between skin and meat. You have only the outside of the apple, but the inside and outside of the oranges. Outside of bananas, inside/outside kiwi, outside blueberries, inside cabbage. In a way that's interesting, but I think maybe have them all exposed or closed. (if that makes sense).

There are no true blue foods in nature.

Apple - even thought you'll be cropping to 5x7, I'd crop to the point where none of the blue background is showing. It's really the only one that has a noticeable background.

Also, the DOF on the apple doesn't 'match up' with the rest of them. The others have very shallow DOF. I really think you may want to reshoot the apple, and try to get in as close as you did on the rest of the fruit. My guess is the apple was the first one you shot, as I think I can see a progression.

How about mangosteen for the purple? They can be a bit hard to find, but they are beautiful.

Passion fruit could also work for purple.

Here is another photo of the same apple, this time without the blue background. I think this one works better since it doesn't have the purple hue over the fringes of the apple.

Honestly, I think I'd prefer more depth of field on at least the shot of the apple, if not all of them. When I look at fruit this close, I want to see their deliciousness. Not sure what thin dof adds to some of the photos. On the apple and banana, I'm looking at their stems. On the oranges, I can't see the pulp... it's just a blob of color and no juiciness. It works for the kiwi and for the blueberries. I'm still scratching my head about the cabbage

Is it me, is the cabbage and orang a tiny bit underexposed?
I tend to over-expose photos sometimes, so it could be me.

I second everyone with the apple needing a re-do with less DOF.
