I am a very happy new (recent) owner of a D10,
I have shot some nice photos with my Sony DSC-P1, but this is a different league!

I have a Tamron lense, AF28-300mm (F/3.5-6.3) which seems to be ok in short ranges (28-40) but higher, it lacks sharpness I think...

With this nice forum I saw some very interesting lenses being explained, and probably I will go after one of the L lenses 16 or 17 something shortly...

anyway, here are some samples from my first tries:

I am interested in feedback on the photos.

regards,

Jurrie

Jurrie,

Nice pictures indeed, and glad u like the 10D. Im looking at a tamron 28-300 lens, is yours the XR version? Also, i would like to see straight from the camera shots of a few pics as I can then compare the quality and make my mind up about the lens.

Regards

Hi StoneH,

thx.

not sure though what you mean about the XR, I guess you refer to a newer one than mine, I got thins lens when I bought the EOS 30, about 1 year ago...
I exchanged this recently to the D10.

I can post some images straight from the camera if you like.

To be honest, I think a large portion of the 'not so crispy' images, is because I almost never use a tripod, most shot straight from the hand - which is not good for sharp images :-)

Therefore I might go for the IS series, for the zoom - and another L one for the wide angles.

regards,

Jurrie

The pictures look great!

The 28-135mm IS is a an excellent choice.

I have a Sigma 28-300mm and despite the shortcomings,. I still use it a lot. It comes in handy.

I think you are correct though in assuming that part of the problem with these lenses is camera shake. A tripod won't make it an 300mm f/2.8 L,... but it will help. :)
