Welcome to the forum!

Rather than us getting side tracked on shots that you are comfortable with, could you post the one or two that is a problem to you.

OK, 5 shots, then 5 quick critiques:

HPIM0380.jpg - the space on the left seems uncomfortable - would it be better if it were cropped? Also, it should be rotated some counterclockwise, as the fence seams are not up and down.

HPIM0375.jpg - Horse in the foreground is out of focus. Generally a bad idea to have the foreground out of focus, especially if it is interacting with the subject.

HPIM0374.jpg - Better. Don't care for the harsh shadows. Some sort of diffusing filter over your flash would help. Also, what about an off camera flash? That might enhance the curves of the statues, rather that flattening them out. Also, the green leaf is bad, and watch your background as he has something growing out of his head.

HPIM0365.jpg - Better still. But just like the first one, seems to have a lot of dead space on the left of frame. Again, I would like to see an off camera flash. The curves show up better here, but could be better still.

HPIM0355.jpg - Hmmm, I did not know that horses were ham radio operators! Otherwise, why would you have chosen to put an antenna in the background?

I do appreciate the intent, and I am sure that if you stick with it, you will look at these a year from now and be amazed at your progress.

One shot I would have liked to have seen is an "eye level" shot, looking neither up nor down on the horse.
