Do I get attached to it? Maybe.

If it works it gets kept (e.g. as backup).
If it is broken or just not worth keeping, it gets binned.

Side note: I destroyed the 18-55mm kit lens when it was replaced by the Tamron in the binning process - one wouldn't believe how strong the glass in those lenses is.

I don't really become "attached" to my "stuff". I just like to hold onto things in case I can find a use for them in the future. (Maybe a hoarder wannabe).

I'm a dedicated stuff person.
My stuff is always better, and therfore I hate to part with it.

I'm not saying I can afford the best, no not at all,.. but MY particular (insert item here) will have more value for me than yours, or even a brand new one.

So yes, I assign an illogical value to my possessions.

Makes it really hard to part with anything.

As you decide to part with your T4i you should ask yourself if you would ever find yourself in the situation to want to carry more than a P&S but not a bunch of camera gear. Would a small DSLR with built in flash ever come in handy?

Would you like a lifetime 2 for the price of one lens special? Want to turn your 24-70 into a 38-112 just by switching cameras?

No, I never claimed to be outstanding in the field of photography. I said I was out standing in the field taking photos.

My first film and digital SLRs live in an attic in a different country. Half my old lenses are out on indefinite loan to friends who needed them - the other half I sold for whatever reason. So no, not really.

My bicycle on the other hand ...

This the reason I may hold on to the t4i ..get a 35mm, slap it on and I can bring it wi th me where ever I go (as I do now but with kit lens . Sigma gets heavy )..and of course when I'm going somewhere knowing I will be looking for pics and prepared to carry around the weight then bring the ff. And heavier lenses

I have no attachment to my camera equipment.

I've only got attached to a couple houses & a couple cars. I am still kind of upset that the people that bought one of the cars ended up bagging it after I did a pretty extensive restoration. The others I let go when I realized that they were being taken care of.
