XT might be small. But they say good things come in small packages ;)

Also that lens is HUGE..I think it would make any camera look small

Yup.... some of the better bird images I captured were with the XT. In applications when I don't need 5 fps, I actually prefer it over the 20D on my Sigmonster because I can use slower shutter speeds with the 350D before shake becomes a problem.

The lighter mirror of the XT has much less shake-inducing slap than the 20D or 1DM2.

Indeed, if you look at the first pic, the large size of the 1DM2 is not very imposing when this camera is at the end of the Sigmonster....

Hmmm, is this dust on my sensor?

No, you left your XT in the lens hood.

WOA I am in shock...that thing is huge:) It makes me feel glad my style of shooting doesnt require me to use a lens like that. I couldnt bare to use anything other than my small primes. Well done to you.

LOL :) :) :)

You guys are so funny. Just found this thread and I can't stop laughing. That lens is huge! I don't think I've ever seen it before and how do you carry it around? Makes my back hurt just thinking about it. Nice tripod too! :)

Same for the 300D vs. the 1Dmk2. Mirror slap on the 1D is a very noticeable problem. I think the "quiet mode" in the personal functions may cure it but I haven't got around to trying it yet.

Hi Suzie,

It's a struggle to carry it around (the combo with the support and flash system weighs almost 30 lbs). When moving to a different location within say 50 meters, I just carry the whole setup... lens/camera/flash mounted on tripod.

Everytime I do this, my back hurts like crazy and my arms become so weary I could hardly lift a cigarette to my mouth. Sometimes I wonder what bad deeds I've done in a previous life to be punished severely in this existence.

But when I look at a bird through the viewfinder with THAT magnification, take a shot and chimp at full LCD zoom, all the hurts and pain are magically gone! And often, I smile to myself and think... "I must have been a good boy in my previous incarnation..."

Well, the good feeling stays until I've to move the combo for the next 50 meters......

Tiny as the XT is, it works well with the giant lens - 350D + Sigmonster, 687 mm, 1/50 sec, f/7.1, ISO 200, manual exposure, ambient lighting

QUOTED IMAGE

Regards,

Romy

Can you reach the zoom ring with those TC's stacked.;)

And that picture is simply beautiful. I enjoy your shots every time I see them. Thank you for sharing them with us.
