Figured I might as well post up some recent bird shots too, since I added some train pics.

My neighbors have 3 feeders up, and they are very active.....and attract quite a different amount of species. Fwiw I am in Mebane, NC.

This was actually taken yesterday. I took a friend out who has never shot birds, let alone birds of prey. He was a good luck charm, as we saw 7 different eagles. This immature (I'd guess around 4yo, eagle experts confirm?) was sitting nearly above us, we didn't know as we crept quietly along the shores of Jordan Lake. I guess we got a little too close, we didn't know it was there until we heard him take off.....via 400L 5.6 + 1.4X Kenko TC

These shots are nothing special at all, but at least I was able to document us seeing one close. Here he is with the landing gear out......via 400L 5.6 + 1.4X Kenko TC

One last, air-brakes in full affect as he landed on a branch that covered him too much to get any more pictures......so we left him alone.....via 400L 5.6 + 1.4X Kenko TC

A crow showing off its catch, demonstrating they can fish too.......although the eagles and osprey catch fish the size of this bird, which makes me giggle.....via 400L 5.6 + 1.4X Kenko TC

There is a regular nesting pair of osprey at a nearby area on the north side of the lake, that is in view when passing by (if you peer over when you are driving by). On Saturdays venture out there, I discovered there are now 2 nesting pair in that setting. I assumed this is one of the males in the photos below, he instantly came to the road to check us out. With him circling and looking directly at us.....and the female out doing circles around her nest (one of them anyways), I don't generally spend too much time out there as to not disturb. Only 2-3 minutes after the male made these passes, we politely left the area......via 400L 5.6 + 1.4X Kenko TC, heavily cropped

Can you mention the general area where you took these pictures? I went to Jordan Lake a couple times in the past few years but never found the right spot(s) where these guys hang around.

Thanks.

The Farrington boat ramp. When you enter the park, there are two sets of boat ramps.....left is for small PWC and kayaks, stay straight (right) for motorboats. Follow it down to the right and park. There is a big sign for evacuation, and there is a trail right behind the sign that walks along the waters edge and goes north. Just a short distance (maybe 75-100 yards) you reach the end of a noticeable trail.....which brings you to a little cove. That is where I saw this eagle, another fully mature adult was lingering nearby at the same time. From the same shore we were on, we could see 1 fledgling as well as 2 more immature eagles flying with 2 adult eagles......all across the lake from where we saw the above. :)

Nice set. I love the woodpecker shot. The colors are really nice and I like how the woodpecker is perched there.
