Rescued this Red Mason Bee from drowning. Picked him up and placed him on a leaf to dry. You can tell this is a male by the pale facial hair and long antenna (the female has black facial hair, shorter antenna and a pair of sturdy black horns just below her antennae). It was rather late in the afternoon and there was little sun, so to improve his chances of surviving I put him in a plastic container and brought him inside. Put a little bit of sugar solution in the dish and then crossed my fingers and hoped that he would make it through the night. Low and behold, the next morning he was all dried up and buzzing about full of the joys of Spring! Without delay I wished him good luck and set him free.
