I am getting ready to buy a 27" iMac from the Apple refurb store and am trying to figure out which model to go with....

Option 1
27-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit display with IPS technology; 2560-by-1440 resolution
8GB memory
3TB Fusion drive
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M graphics processor with 4GB of GDDR5 memory

Option 2
27-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit display with IPS technology; 2560-by-1440 resolution
16GB memory
3TB Fusion drive
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M graphics processor with 2GB of GDDR5 memory

I mainly shoot stills, I use lightroom and photoshop for editing work with plug-ins from nik and Photomatix for HDR work. This is my first Apple computer (I am coming from a Dell XPS)

Thanks in advance for any help given

Do they have the same processor, and what is the price difference? If you can upgrade the memory yourself to 16gb on option 1 for less than the price difference, you get a better graphics card. Won't really affect your photo editing, but may be important for other uses.

Without a doubt, option 1

Ram is a simple cheap user upgrade, graphic card is virtually, if not completely impossible to upgrade.

Im with whiteflyer. As a side note, I've had my refurbed imac for 7 years, and it's still tickin' away. When it finally dies, I'll ordered another refurbe'd Imac.
