I've reviewed my files and as of yesterday morning I've managed reasonable quality captures of 50 bird species from my backyard. I think that's pretty exciting for my 1/4 acre "preserve" as Brett calls it :)

I'm going to leave this one unidentified for now to stir some discussion. Yes, I know what it is ;)

1.

And for those who haven't been around for the full 50 species ride here's a brief review:

From the largest....

....to the smallest.

So here's to the next 50 species....
Thanks as always for checking in and feel free to comment to your hearts delight.

50 is very good.
I'm guessing a female Lazuli?
I'm pretty bad with female ID.
Great set.

Congrats on the Wildlife reserve hitting 50, I will take a look but I'm thinking 30. Have no idea on the mystery. That's a great milestone to hit especially on one our litte lots!
Great work as usual!

Always appreciate your comments Jeremy, and you're pretty darn close with your guess. Think eastern US ;)

Many thanks fellow reserve owner! Amazing how bird photography has made me open my eyes more to what's out there so close at hand.

Excellent images Steve and congrats on hitting 50! I'm sitting at about 40 and I'll hold off on the ID but there are some subtle hints showing. ;)

I had male coming into molt on my feeder today in the pouring rain. Couldn't believe my eyes, the pattern was so unexpected. To add to the hints, mine was in Virginia.

Great snaps. I think you've inspired me to start a backyard catalogue. It's my first year in a new home, so I don't even know the full extent of what's possible yet. Thanks for the idea!

To solve the ID of the "mystery" bird.......she's a female Indigo Bunting.
Many thanks to those who played along.

Thanks a bunch Brad! I sat in the 40s for a loooooong time :)
And you should take it as a compliment that I almost added a disclaimer asking you not to ID the bird.

Many thanks for the comment ari. The males are such a beautiful shade of blue aren't they. Good luck with your catalogue!
