Spot on focus but why is the area to the left and right side of the ruler (16-18 inch area) in sharper focus than the rest?

I just noticed it now.. what could be the reason for this?

now I know why it happens. I don't know if I can explain it right. its due to the ruler is elevated... and my camera is positioned with an angle... therefore the focus plane is angled too... not flat exactly at 12cm...

anyway, enough with the test shots, time to put some creativeness on this lens.
