They are really really sharp, after a little AFMA perhaps.

Here is one with no sharpening added yet.

Here is a snap from today as someone asked me is the 50mm was sharp. I think it is... with +6 on AFMA anyway

Haven't shot with the 50 Art in a while but used it lots on a shoot today, almost forgot just how sharp it can be.

I haven't noticed any green hues generally. You may see a hint of green in the shot above because I used a film preset that is tinted toward green a bit. And of course his eyes and the background are actually green.

Do you see any green hues in the photo I took earlier in this thread of an elderly author?

I actually have a Sigma Art prime question. I remember reading somewhere on here that someone noted that Sigma Art primes have a green rendering to them. Do they? Am I seeing that in this picture?

This is of interest to me because with the new Sigma adapter coming I may consider the 85 if they ever release it - possibly the 50 as well

Thanks

I have not noticed a green tint, with the 50 ART or 20ART...maybe a slight warm tint to it...but nothing unflattering.

After trying 4 versions of the Sigma 50mm f1.4 Art, and then 1 Canon 50mm f1.2 L, and shooting a wedding season with them, I decided to write a review to voice my thoughts, and hopefully help others in the same situation

That's interesting, I'm not sure if I have used mine very much in AI-Servo mode, but using a 6D, I use one shot a lot and recompose.

I'll be getting a 5D3 this week and I do plan to use Servo mode much more since I'll have good focus points over in the rule of 3rds area.

Did you ever try to calibrate the ART lens with the dock? I know it is an "extra step" but I've had to calibrate both my Sigma lenses with the dock and once I did that they are very accurate all the time. I think this is a requirement for the sigma lenses, not optional. With that note, if you want to pick up a lens off the shelf and expect it to work perfectly, then yes Canon is the lens for you, even though that is not always the case even with a Canon lens, you will get better luck with Canon lens on a Canon camera.

I will say that the 35mm works great in Servo Mode, I just use that lens much more often.

For some reason I always mount that one over the 50mm, even though I think my 50mm is a little sharper and also very accurate, I think I just prefer the 35mm Focal length better for my shots. It's more versatile I think.

I didn't try out the 50ART in Servo on the two Canon's, I will mess with that today, but on the A7RII...no issues, it tracks fast and accurate just moving around the room and trying to follow my daughters face...I will try it out on the Canon's this evening...

Hi guys, decided to treat myself to the sigma 50mm art. I haven't done any testing on its focus but I can tell you that it looks pretty sharp to me straight out of the box. These images are basically straight OOC with some cropping done. Shot wide open 1.4 . It also helps when you have beautiful models willing to pose for you.(the bribe was ice cream)

A couple from the Florida Keys a few weeks ago. Both had a Tiffen polarizer on.

I completely recalibrated this lens with my new 5D3 so that it is zeroed out at all distances, it was a bit of work but worth it.

I was using AI Servo too, no issues.
