Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art

I do this a lot, just take one lens out with me. I don't worry that I could have got wider shots, or missed something because I didn't have zoom, just make the most of what's in front of me with the kit I have.

It was my wife's 50th a couple of years ago and I surprised her with a trip to California to meet a YouTube idol of hers that teaches hooping - her favourite hobby. I decided to just take the 50 and make a slideshow of 50 shots at 50mm of her 50th birthday trip.

Great idea and superb execution!

From my trip up to the Eastern Sierras this weekend... panorama, exposure blending, and manual recovery work in Photoshop. Shot on a Canon 5D Mark IV.

I keep getting mixed answers on this but I keep hearing the 50 and the 5D3 have issues. Anyone here having them?

What kind of issues...mine was not very good on my 7D, focus was either front or back, never consistently off...is was good on the 5D2...occasionally front focused.

Mine was "ok" with the 5D4... 5D3 it was a little worse. Once I got the Sony and adapted it though it was unreal how sharp it was. The 50A is amazing and somehow I contribute it's AF issues tied to the AF system of the body.

agreed...I didn't want to mention that part...ont he a7R2 and a9 it is ridiculously sharp...which is why I have not been able to sell it...its better than the Sony FE 50 F/1.4.

I literally only sold it because of weight. I use the 50mm prime for travel mostly. Outside of that I typically use the 85 but for travel 85 is usually too long for what I like to capture. So I just sold my art and picked up a sony 55mm 1.8. I know the Art is a bit better and 1.4 capable but I'm trying to build a two face kit... travel and ultimate IQ. I have 35 2.8/551.8 for travel and the sigma 35A/85A for ultimate IQ. Although I will say I prefer the bokeh of the 85 GM more than my Art I picked resolution over bokeh this time.

The 50Art is indeed ridiculously sharp on sony. Canon just couldn't ever really "nail" it just right and even when I thought it did the performance on the art with the sony is breathtaking.

In case anyone is wondering, this lens (and the 85 art) work perfectly on the EOS R.

Perfectly.

I've been shooting with this lens a lot lately, I love it.

really liking this one, great subject isolation and still keeping nice atmosphere around it...I am kinda partial to sunflowers...they remind me of my childhood...

thank you TRhoads! I am hoping the flowers are still around in a month's time, been wanting to shoot Milky Way rising over the sunflowers for a while!

So that's mean no possible front/back or others AF problems when the lens is a mount E on a A7 III? No issue because of the body? My english is so bad I can't understand your last sentence even with a translator lol.
Do we need to activated something for using the AF system of the body?

I will only use eye AF
