I spoke to a Tamron Rep at an event last week. She would not give any info other than it will be "A While" before we see some in stock anywhere. :sigh: I really want this lens!

Sounds like they may currently produce non-Canon variants. Or maybe are waiting for a batch of some critical component (like one of the large glass elements).

At the event I was at they had the 150-600 there to test drive but, ONLY for canon, and only 3 copies. One of which was the rep's own copy. There were definitely some upset Nikon shooters there.

That sounds like they have serious issues. The marketing department is normally very keen on having sales material, demo equipment etc. Where I come from, it has happened that we have to lock in prototypes or paint-spray them or remove vital parts or similar just to make sure that some sellers will not get a too strong urge to "help themselves" to a unit or two to display. Or maybe even hand over as demo installation.

thats 30 days ago, you still didn't get it?

No, but I did not expect to, given the much longer delays that people have been reporting. I am content with my 100-400 until my order is filled. I am resigned to a long wait.

Good news, Tamron 150-600 for Nikon & Canon should be shipping around May 10, I was told by the Tamron rep that they will have a small batch for Nikon and a bit more of the Canon mounts to ship.

I hope everyone get 1 they have had on order for awhile, I can't wait for 1 for my Canon.

Christopher

Hoping they will be easier to get when my gear fund builds back up. I've been a bad boy this past month or so. Very bad.

Walked into local dealer (Colonial Camera, Orlando) and purchased off the shelf in late February.

Maybe Tamron is having too much auto focus issues w/150-600.. they are trying to figure it out and thus, production is paused.
Or maybe there is just too much demand for this lens :D

It is pretty weird that Tamron 200-500 costs more than new 150-600. :S

I got a response from one store "Sorry no new news from our rep. All he said was that Tamron really messed up when they forecasted the sales of this lens. I’ll let you know as soon as I hear something."
