I've been extremely busy since returning to work so I apologize for the late reply. I really appreciate the kind comments from each and every one of you. I feel very fortunate to have seen these birds given that my time with them was limited to two afternoon/evenings, on both the west and east coast. Marco Island and Cooper City each had multiple burrows with young birds but for much of the afternoon they stay underground. It was hot in the afternoons so it makes sense that they stay under and wait to be fed where it's safe and cool. Again, thanks everyone.

Thanks Lester. It's a full time job keeping them fed. The biggest threat is the hawks. The parents keep their eyes to the sky a lot but the more time the youngsters spend above ground the riskier it gets. That burrow has to be getting crowded now.

Well worth another look and a red box, still loving that first shot, what a precious look it has, almost human, Well done again I say.

wow- those babies are too cute. I get to see these guys pretty often but never have seen such young ones- will look more often
