Haven't seen a thread on this, sorry if there is one going already. Allegedly will be announced tomorrow, pop-up EVF and a 24-70 f/1.8 - 2.8 lens.

Sounds really impressive, especially if the form factor and size is similar to pocketable RX100 (I and II).

I'm guessing starting MSRP will be around $799.

Any thoughts?

Pre-ordered. It showed up in my Amazon Gold Box for $758. Couldn't resist!

Nice. Camera looks terrific but just too rich for my blood, especially cause I just got the Mark I RX100

Considering used prices, I think the original is a great buy. I'd love if I could find one for around $300-$325. Still see used prices on Amazon

But the X-T1 has really changed my mind about tilting LCDs. So The RX100 mk2 might be more my taste.

Who am I kidding? I'll end up keeping the mk3 lol.

I think we are getting back to the days when all most consumers really needed /had was a P&S digital camera. I tell people people that the IQ and low-light performance from my RX100 is about on par with my old Canon XSi with the kit lens, but nobody believes me.

The RX100 mk3 seems like all the camera most people need and more.

While I like this camera a lot, in the end I think it'll just be too much for what I'd want it for.

Besides cost, I'm curious why you'd think it would be too much? And cost will obviously come down. Just like it's two predecessors, I believe the initial MSRP is way too high (you are talking Nex A6000 money).

But otherwise, the feature set seems just right.

I just meant cost. Otherwise it seems very nice. The competition for me for a pocket camera to this would be a S110. While clearly the RX III is a better camera, when I could pick up a S110 for 200$ it's really hard to pony up what, 4X that price for something that won't be my primary camera.

I agree with you. I recently picked up an RX-100 for $350 after waiting what, 2 years? Anything more than that I couldn't justify. The funny thing is the RX-100 is probably still the 3rd best compact camera on the market after the Mk II and Mk III. Nobody seems interested in challenging Sony in this area yet.

Why take on the RX100 when Canon has this bad boy in the market:

I love my RX100. I may, after seeing it, go with the RX100iii if it's not too bulky compared to the original. With that said, I'm perfectly happy with RX100. It's a pocket camera on steroids. I shoot JPEGs with it (where as I shoot RAW) and most of the time on outdoor shots, no adjustments in Aperture. Indoor shots I may tweak a little.
Had the S95 when it was first released, the RX100 and newer models are a no-brainer, if one can swing the higher price(s). Picking one up used will save some $.
It's that good... That's all I can say when explaining the camera to others. Regardless of what camp you're in as far as DSLR's / MFT, etc.

Nikon D4, Sony RX10, Sony RX100.
Past Gear: (most recently) 5D3, L's, etc.

Agreed. After using the RX-100 for a while I think the average Joe that picks up a DSLR with kit lens would be much better served with the RX.

After watching TheCameraStores video on the m3, I placed my preorder for the camera. And that in turn made me switch my decision for the a7r to the a7. The difference in the two FF bodies will offset most of the cost of the m3. There's always times when you want to carry a camera with you but even a mirrorless is too big (dinner, walk out on town, etc). Plus it has enough features that my wife would like (180 degree screen, NFC, small enough to fit in her purse) and ones that I like (1.8-2.8 lens, EVF, etc).

Current Gear: Sony RX1RII

Any thoughts?

I like the presence on the market on more compact camera with a 1.0 inch sensor but I think also that their price, as new, make no sense at all.
