What do you want new firmware to do for you? The 1D X added several improvements and additional features to the autofocus system. Since the 5D III shares that autofocus system, those improvements and additional features will be added to the 5D III.

I remember asking if mine had the latest changes made that I purchased in Dec. 2012 and was told yes from the factory. Regards

I would like the selected AF point to always be illuminated red. I have become used to it the way I use it, but it is still a problem sometimes. Cory

I was hoping for a faster shutter speed limit in Auto ISO, but I'm indeed one year late...:o, sorry for the commotion. It's okay. I'm sure you are inadvertently right, and a firmware update that has the autofocus system improvements from the 1D X will be forthcoming.

If the 5D3 shares the same AF'system with the 1DX. Would it be feasible for them to give us a firmware upgrade, that Meters the exposure at the selected AF point ? Or even at the hyper- sensitive AF points? I beleive the 1DX can do that but not totally sure. I think my 5D3 is perfect apart from that and of course the dual pixel sensor upgrade to enable auto AF in Video Mode. IMO those should have been standard when it came out for £3,000! The lack of those feautures, made me wait until the price dropped to £2,300 with a free Grip so say net cost of £2,000. I think it is a capability of the 1D X only because of the metering system in the 1D X that isn't in the 5D III. I can tell you that the 1D X metering system is freaking awesome. It would have been nice if that was in the 5D III. But then again, the 5D III would have been $1,500 more expensive if it had the 1D X metering system.
