I am very interested in learning how to do touch ups and editing on peoples faces. I am most interested in softening facial fetures and covering blemishes.

I am very new to photoshop elements 2.0 (that is all I have) and I also have the software that accomponied the Canon 20D, DPP I think it is called. So if anyone can help me, maybe with a before and after shot and "specific" directions on how to duplicate the process, that would be awesome. Thank you so much

As far as i remember elements 2 has layers. If so, duplicate your layer and apply a little gaussian blur from the filter menu. You then can erase the top layer to show eyes, lips and any other detail you require. Adjustments to lightness can also be made in the "copy layer.

When happy - merge down crop and sharpen a little with unshrp mask for printing. Have fun!

I haven't used the eraser since I discovered non-destructive Layer Masks. Does PSE have them?

From what I can see is there are a lot of great tutorials but I need them for the Elements 2 version, these don't seem to be, but I have not looked at all of them yet.

Treat yourself to the latest Elements - cheap compared to your lenses. Photoshop CS is very expensive but remember it is a professional tool and if you want to make this your living . . . The latest Elements has most that you will need for now and the tutorials will apply although items may be in different menu positions to the full photoshop.

By the look of it you may be snowed in - so spend a few hours experimenting with a notepad beside you - when something works - note it down. I never did and then couldn't remember what the settings were!

Thanks a lot. I am wanting to get Photoshop CS or CS2, but I am afraid to spend the money. Right now I don't have the confidence in my work and don't want to spend the money if I won't get anywhere with it. Thanks I will think about that.

Which is better, CS or CS2???

CS2 is the latest version - I have not bothered to upgrade yet from CS. Go on the Adobe site and that will tell you the improvements. Providing you are happy with your RAW conversion programme even photoshop 7 which you can pick up cheaply would be a great improvement over your Elements 2. CS2 will deal very well with your unconverted RAW files and I think is better than the Canon software.

I want to get that, but I want to wait a little bit. I am going to be taking some college classes and there is an editing class so I want it by then so I can practice at home. Thanks a bunch

Had a look at the sites listed by Photosguy and Chtgrubbs and they are good - even this old grey haired old chap is going to learn a lot. Copy the addresses and start a file for your long dark evenings - or don't you have them in Vagas? These and other tutorials you will pick up from your postings are more thorough than most books.

I would strongly suggest you check out the cost of upgrading to Photoshop Elements 4.0
I find the "Spot Healing Brush Tool" works extremely well.
I believe there is a trial version available but it is a big download.
Also, try to have a look at Scott Kelby's book Adobe Photoshop elements 4 Collection.
It has a series of short chapters on dealing with all sorts of blemishes , wrinkles, off white teeth and so on
