I understand the warnings about using the modeling light, but I've been looking into this system after being a convert to the V850s and the CL-360s. I like that they are LED, and in the new RS600p versions, I see that the 15w (100w equivalent) led light has a 2 minute auto shutoff. What is your take on the modeling light on the current versions? Still usable?

Godox is going to be setting the timer to 10min run time. It will be okay to help set your light and some video work. It not going to close the iris on the model's eye unless its in really close when using a modifier.

Not looking to close the iris (although that would be great), but more for video work.

Sorry if I missed it, but did anyone confirm whether you can swap packs and heads with the older 600's (not the EX but the Xenergizer ES)

Yes Godox confirmed its safe to use RS heads with the ES packs. But they are still recommending against it, as you would need to turn the modeling light off manually within 10 minutes, otherwise its likely to damage the LED.

New changes are coming to the head. Cheetahstand cl-600 will be adding in a fan and making the LED time to 15min.

I'm sure I missed it but when do these ship? I'm looking to buy a new set up soon and wanting to compare some pricing and availability.

They just put a post on Facebook that says it has just been approved for production. I have to think that means two or three months minimum.

They should be in stock in July with all new improved version for cheetahstand. The reason for testing the product is to find out what will make the unit better and to make sure the customer will be happy.

It sounds like the unit recycles VERY quickly. If you are an even somewhat serious studio shooter, speedy recycle time alone should get your attention....

I've used the old ex600 in the studio for years as my fill light and the CL-600 is a big step-up. It works great with my 7' octa and recycle time for me is great. If you want profoto or broncolor recycling speeds you might want to look into the Godox QT.

Again I like portable battery units. I do have other AC strobes I can use if needed, but I don't like having cords running across my floor. Its just too simple to roll the whole thing into position.

If you think you might run out of power on a shoot, Edward at Cheetah stand will have extra batteries you can buy.

Not sure about the fan add on but I am sure it will then be compared to a studio strobe.. If I could change anything, it would be to have a ratchet locking on the head. The current lever gets in the way when tightening with the 33in BD on it. I have not had any problems with the umbrellas. And perhaps the options to purchase a longer cord!
