CL-600 and Cheetah 33"BD, and cheetah remote. Grabbed my neighbor for a quick shot on this extremely windy day.

Not sure about the fan add on but I am sure it will then be compared to a studio strobe.. If I could change anything, it would be to have a ratchet locking on the head. The current lever gets in the way when tightening with the 33in BD on it. I have not had any problems with the umbrellas. And perhaps the options to purchase a longer cord!

It will have a ratchet handle

The one I got when Edward arranged for me to order a test version has the ratchet handle.
I agree that a longer cable would be nice. I had to move the pack up higher on the light stand during the band shoot.

Honestly, I'm so used to shooting outside with the CL-360 that I didn't even turn on the modeling light. Edward explained to me a bit about how they are going to implement the fan. Sounds like a useful addition to ensure durability.

I did some testing related to Cheetah Sync; it worked great with PocketWizard ControlTL MiniTT1 on 5DIII and FlexTT5 plugged into pack. I was not able to get a useful result with YN-622c. Mine are early version and that apparently is a problem with SuperSync.

Here is a shot from Sunday. Local band that are friends. Perfect way to test the CL-600 outside with sun. Never had it over 1/8th power. Shooting with a Fuji XT-1, ISO 200, 1/180, and whatever aperture I needed to get the exposure right.

The Abbey Road remake was with the standard reflector, the others were all with 28" Fotodiox beauty disk with sock.

Mine is different as well. Looks like what one would expect for a ratchet handle.

It's not a major inconvenience, and only affect the 33" BD, still my favorite modifier. Thinking about getting the silver! Darn, I should own stock in cheetah brand!!

Nice David!!

Thanks.

I've done similar in the past with Einsteins and VML. This was so much easier to get around with. I was not a fan of the Quadra when it was introduced. I thought the Enstein and VML was a better option. The CL-600 is a even better. There are some improvements I'd like personally, but they are enhancements not fixes.

elv, thanks for the ES/RS clarification. Too bad no one will sell just the RS heads. I don't have a problem remembering to turn off model lights so im fine for swaps.

How hot do your packs get? One of mine gets fire hot after spirited 1/2 to 1/1 power pops. It's even shut down on its own (could have been a timer deal though from sitting with no pops?) I've metered it and it doesn't affect output.

My packs get pretty warm, but the heat sink is right next to the case wall on the dial side.

With the old head it was a 12 watt lamp and the new head its a 12 watt LED. LEDs are a lot more sensitive to power spikes then the old Bulb. If you watch the old head with the modeling light on you will see it change brightness do to the power spikes.

The pack does auto turn off if not used. 100ws flash is 5 to 6 times brighter then a 100 watt bulb because it happens in a matter milliseconds. Where the bulb takes longer to have the same effect. Thats why shutter speed controls ambient light. This is why there is no effect on exposure from the modeling light unless you set your shutter speed for it.

Nice, I believe that I have one on one of my manfrotto stands that I may be able to swap out. I will gather up some parts and see..

Just to throw in something from the past from the Cheetahstand vault.
