The Quadra can be set from 1s to 60s or you can hold the button down for 3s and it will stay on till you turn it off. The 600 will stay on till you turn it off.

Thanks, nice speaking to you!

Here is a quick video showing the size and some info of the CL-600 to the Quadra

Will do a full video of just the CL-600 this weekend

New video in the works yet? :) This definitely has me intrigued!

I will try to get to it tomorrow. I took the whole thing apart to check all the wiring, chips, resisters, soldering joints, and Ect. If something happens to unit I can pretty much pin point the problem if questions are asked.

So, maybe, just maybe, I live under a rock, although I feel I am young enough to be fairly plugged in. Was this thing, the CL600 just not publicized at all? Is it JUST now coming to market?

This thing is seriously something super useful. The alternative for me is a considerably heavier and much more expensive speedotron digital explorer for location work(but it does offer 3x the power...), but I've never had to run one of those at full power shooting INTO the sun.

I wonder if they could make a splitter like profoto does for it's acute b600... You don't always need ratios!

Test shot I did Friday with the CL-600. Using the stock reflector about 10' away and a vari ND filter.

ISO400 because I was messing with adding in some ambient from the background.

Very nice, Adam. That distance of 10' has me excited.

Debating on my next purchase for photography, and I am pretty sure it will be a CL-600.

Of note, I have a 7D, Canon EF 100 2.8, and EF-S 17-55. For lighting, I have a pair of V850s, one stand, a 2x3 Apollo knockoff, and a convertible umbrella.

The V850s have been incredible and have taken my photography way past where it was before having any lighting equipment. However, it has been tough shooting with them in the sun as you get almost no distance to place them from the subject. Tough to frame shots. I want to be able to shoot at more times during the day and gain some distance.

Adam, scrolling through your flickr, I see you have the V850s too. How have you found the CL-600 compared to your V850s? What else do you have for lights?

The problem I am having now is serious GAS. I am being distracted by everything. Saw a 5Dc with a 50mm 1.8 on another forum and almost jumped on it. Would love a 70-200 2.8 IS as my 55-250IS isn't great wide open. An x100s looks fantastic for walking around with. As with many, the money just isn't there.

So, for shooting outside and getting working distance, would a CL-600 give me the most bang for my buck? Should I stay the course of a CL-600 and ignore all the other shiny baubles that keep jumping out at me?

-Nate

Nate, Thanks. I should add I *think* the 600 was at 1/16 power when I took that. But remember I was at ISO400.

I like the v850s a lot. I tested them in a Westcott Orb. Had 3 together at 1/1600 using a CelsII. I also have an AD-360. I like that the triggering system is the same on all.

Also looking to get a ND filter to go along with the light, so that is good info to know.

Adam, why bump up the iso instead of reducing the ND on the filter? Was it already at its minimum?

Was toying with the idea of a 4 or 5 stop filter and using ISO to reduce a few stops if needed. However, it seems that the variable filters would be pretty slick, and work better with video as well.

I hope Edward finishes his QC soon so that these kitties can go on sale!

Because I screwed up ;). I was originally going back and forth with settings trying to balance the light (knocking it all out than bring it back). At this point thought I was on ISO100.

Would have been a better photo if I hadn't screwed. I was at close to max on the ND (think 8 stops). Could have brought ISO to 100, and ND to 6 stops.

This item is a Godox ES600P Xenergizer (imprinted at the Godox Factory) and the reason why its tagged with the cheetah logo is because Edward only warranties his own products. If the item wasn't tagged scamming people would try to pass off their ebay, amazon, and ect. buys as cheetahstand gear to get warranty. (Edward only warranties what he sells) The tag is to keep people honest, so it tagging/marking not re-branding.

Here is the overview video of the CL-600.

I just want to clarify that this is a safari 2 head and not the same head as the current Gen 1 ES600P. The ES600P (gen 1) by comparison has the fixed header cable, plastic bowens mount, geared plastic tilt bracket, quartz model light (vs led) and much smaller than the CL600 head. I have both packs and each have their strengths with regards to price, size and quality of head materials. If you want something similar to an Einstein or studio monolight with a full metal bowens S Mount then I'd suggest CL600/Safari2. If you prefer minimum weight for handheld and will be using lightweight modifiers then I'd suggest ES600P (gen 1).
