New one on me....

Today I took delivery of a new lens (24mm ts-e mk II)....Lucky me! It took me a while to find a decent dealer who had one in stock.

So anyway, lens turns up, all fine and dandy. I shoot a few random things and notice im getting ER01. This happens a few times. I clean the contacts and nothing and the error continues on/off.

Then by chance I noticed my aperture was not changing (by looking down front element). So I used the DOF preview button and ran it up and down the F range. This freed it up and I I thought that was the end of my problems, and it seemed fine.

A few hour later Im home, testing the lens out and again I notice the problems with my exposure (but no errors this time). I notice that no matter what I set my aperture too (f11/22 etc) the aperture stays wide open at f3.5. So again I use the DOF preview button and run it up and down. And this seems to fix my lens.

So the question is, has anyone had this before. And has the problem ever fixed itself?

please note....ive set the TS lens back to its default. i.e. no shift/no tilt, and Im shooting in manual mode.

I've had this issue on a kit lens, ended up having to replace a ribbon cable to fix it.

eek!

I'm not totally sure that's the problem. I only say that because the more I use the lens the less errors/problems I get. I'm wondering if its just a little stiff.

But....If it is the same problem.....Have to decide if sending to back to the shop or canon would be quicker.

the lens is not giving me errors, but exposure is all over the place.

All these images (sorry about the mess) where shot in succession, in manual 5.0sec F11 iso 100.

They should all be the same exposure, but as you can tell the 1st two and to a lesser degree the 3rd are all too bright. Like the aperture has not stopped down enough.

Shame. Ill get on the phone with them tomorrow.

I'd just ask for an exchange. Make note of the serial number of the one you're sending back though.
