6d Question

So, I decided to pick up a 6d for my real estate work instead of the 5d (due to cost differences). Shot a few houses with it so far. Overall, not unhappy with it but a little underwhelmed (but that's a discussion for elsewhere).

Anyway, is there a setting I can change which allows me to just use the inside wheel directional thingie (that replaced the joystick) to select my focus point without having to hit the AF focus point button first? It's REALLY friggin annoying having to push that button, THEN select my AF point. I'm used to just moving my joystick to select the point on my 1d3.

Thanks.

Look under CFnIII item 5. You can set it from there.

Was looking in there. Can't figure out which one to change and what to change it to. Manual is useless.

Thanks for the tip. Found it on YT.

Of course, unlike my other Canon bodies, when you press the center button, it does NOT select the center point. A little nit picky I guess but not sure why they changed it.

This camera could be so good with a few tweaks. I get it, they need to justify people spending the extra $$$ for the 5d3 but....

Thanks to everyone for your help!

Custom funtions are you friends. I chose to use a EG-S screen in my 6D, and changed my DOF button to ('single-shot / sevro) Then set my priority in Servo in custom functions.
It helps a lot shotting burst hand held.
Enjoy the 6D. :D

How did you get it to do that? It doesn't make sense that it doesn't.

^ You can assign the "set" button to do different things.
Not sure exactly what menu number, but it is there.
You can also change the direction of the scroll wheel for changing SS and / or aperture.

I have my 6D set to use the AF-button to activate AF selection. If you use direct access via the multi-controller, you don't get one-button center point reset. With the multi-controller shut off: Press the AF-selection button. Now the SET button toggles between auto AF (all points) and the center point. With it set up this way, I can use either the front/back wheels, or the multi-controller to move the AF-point. The good part is that I have an auto/center only toggle, and access from any control. The bad part is that I HAVE to press the AF-selection button first. I'm still getting used to the 6D. I can't imagine trying to use a 5D3!

I've got to look at all of this. I really don't know why Canon has changed the way it's worked on their bodies for all of these years.
