I can't even begin to tell you in the space allotted here how high on my list of "nemesis" birds the male of this species ranks. If there were a ranking above #1 that's where he'd be. I've chased him around my backyard for at least the last 3 years and he almost always foils my attempts. The image below is only a few days old and represents my best effort to date. All I want is for him to find a perch in the sun within camera range and let that beautiful blue shine as we all know it can. Maybe that day will come this year......which is what I've said the last 3 years

Male

Female (again)

I hope the day comes soon when I can regale you all with his sunlit blue beauty. Thanks for tolerating my rant and I hope you'll feel comfortable enough to add in your comments and suggestions.

A very hard male to catch detailed, you did quite well, the female is lovely, congrats. I'm dealing with my nemesis Rose breasted Grosbeak, little beauty that was here all day until the camera came out, he would hide in the shade then fly off maybe tomorrow...

Steve,
I think you did great. I would be happy with them and yet they still leave a little
room for a better shot. Good stuff.

I also think it's a great shot but then again that would be way to easy and not nearly as much fun as spending this summer getting that shot the artist in you is looking for. Good luck Steve

Lol at your nemesis story, Steve. Reminds me of the Pileated Woodpecker that taunts me in like fashion.
Beautiful captures of stunning creatures!

These are wonderful shots Steve.

You know, I think a highly colours birds like this might be better in soft light. You don't want bright sun, hah!. <keep repeating until calm>

He's so beautiful! Congratulations on getting this shot. Even if you get the perfect shot, you will still want something even better...just like the rest of us!

LOL Trevor, you have chosen a toughie. Thanks for the comments and good luck catching the avian ping pong ball.

Thanks so much Bret. I too struggle with your nemesis so maybe between the 2 of us one of us can succeed.

You read me too well Jeff and thanks for the compliment. We all envision the image we want and then strive to achieve......I've still got some striving to do :)
