In the past I've used Nik's Sharpener Pro 3 (RAW Presharpener) to just crisp up the sharpness a bit on some images. Today I attempted to use it and it looked great within the plugin window. After clicking Ok I'd return back to the PS6 window and get the usual circle of dots meaning it was applying the filter. After a few seconds of this it would finish with no apparent change (sharpening) to the image.

Any clues as to why it won't apply?

Basically what happened is that the plugin crashed while processing the image, this sometimes this happens to me too, and I think it has something to do with memory usage... try closing Photoshop and opening it up again, and if that doesn't work, maybe restart the computer. Another thing you could try is check to see how much ram Photoshop is using under Preferences, if you have it set too high (like 90% on 8gb of ram), the plugin might not have enough memory to run from, since plugins run as a separate application and don't share memory space with Ps.

Sometimes plugins also have a tendency to crash when you're multitasking and there other non-Photoshop applications that are eating up the ram while you're trying to process an image.

I acquired an expensive camera so I can hang out in forums, annoy wedding photographers during formals and look down on P&S users... all the while telling people it's the photographer, not the camera.

Thanks for the tips. It took a reboot to fix the problem.
