The Civil War on September 17, 1862.

Bloody Lane, Antietam Battlefield.

In three hours of combat, 5,500 soldiers were killed or wounded.

Had a wonderful visit there early this morning!

Hope you enjoy.

C&C is always welcome :D

Thank you! I love color. Sometimes I go a bit overboard :)

Thank you! I live 30 minutes away. This is only the 2nd time I have been there in 30 plus years  I know I will be visiting more often. Sometimes you don't really appreciate what you have so close to home until you become a bit more "mature" ;)

Ha ha! I had to use LR to "coax" the colors out

It is VERY humbling to stand on the very ground where so many lost their lives.

Here is one I just worked on, looking straight up the lane with a slightly different perspective than #2.

Those two sentences just to do not go well together.

Nice photos though.

They weren't meant to be taken together. The first lines were just retelling what occurred there. Believe me, nothing wonderful about that :(

And not wonderful as in rainbows and unicorns. Wonderful as in the beauty of the surroundings, being able to stand on the grounds that this terrible battle occurred on 152 years ago. But not wonderful that so many were either injured or lost their lives.

I feel you learn much more visiting these places and sitting in a classroom reading textbooks. There is so much history so close to me, and I appreciate being able to learn about it right where it happened. I feel that it is great that I have that opportunity.

I really enjoyed being on my own time schedule. THAT was wonderful. This thread I started explains why. https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?t=1371269

Glad you enjoyed the photos!!!
