I'm tempted to try it to make it easier on my shoulder to carry it but I'm not sure I want to break the seal on the screws. I'm also concerned that I may miss the padded carry handle. Any thoughts? I replaced the 400 II's foot with the RRS foot that allows me to pop it into the RRS quick-release plates, such as the one on my monopod and tripod. May 05, 2014 22:28 | #4 I know it is not well known but my 400 came with the normal padded foot and a smaller monopod foot. They refer to it on page 17 of the manual. I use my 400 on a monopod 95% of the time and the regular foot jabs into my shoulder when I carry it with either the lens or the body forward.  Bob

May 06, 2014 18:09 | #7 Try swapping out the feet - they wouldn't supply it if you weren't supposed to use it - after all it's only 4 bolts. Life is for living, cameras are to capture it (one day I will learn how!).

May 13, 2014 19:33 | #11 I found that you are right Jake, I was missing the correct allen wrench. It must be a size Ikea uses. My daughter probably has it. Once I replaced the missing key I did it myself. The smaller foot works so much better for me. I added a little locktite blue and I'm good. Bob

May 14, 2014 17:23 | #12 I am pretty sure that the bolts are an Imperial size, however I almost invariably find that Imperial Allen keys fit metric bolts better and vice versa! Life is for living, cameras are to capture it (one day I will learn how!).
