have you created deliberately the blur that is appearing in this image or is it close to the lens (branches / leaves / etc) interference that is creating this effect

i would personally remove it - especially if it is directly in front of the model

otherwise, the lighting on the model's face and hair is excellent

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

Thanks for the feedback. I've been working on front bokeh to add more interest to the image. It was intentional. What I did was cut a branch off the tree and place it in front of the lens. Just a look that I like that's commonly used in wedding photography.

I've use this technique (shooting through the branches / leaves), but it is one of those things that you never know if you have pulled it off until you look at the final image. Sometimes playing with the whites or contrast sliders a little can give you that little improvement that makes it work. Where I find it works 'better' is shots where the model / couple is further away and they are 'mostly' clear of the foreground blur but there is blur in the image that creates that different look you are looking for. I think your 1st and 2nd images almost pulls this off (and would have if less of her dress was being affected) and the 3rd image, if re-cropped with Portrait framing, and also slightly off center, may also work (to remove the 70% of the image which is all blurred).

Again, I think the lighting on her face and her is truly excellent.
