These are great! I like the bokeh and the ringflash reflection, it blends very well with the eye on the first two pics!

Some simple photos

I'll make sure to nail the focus next time! I will also fix that link. Thanks. I also noticed that the largest aperture on your gear list is 3.5. DOF is a non issue at that fstop unless you're shooting macro.

Not sure what you are looking at but I don't have a gear list.

All of your gallery photos have exif data......
It's really easy to make a generic statement regarding missed focus. I was merely stating that all of the photos in your gallery reflect that you use a much narrower aperture with greater depth of field that makes your pictures more in focus. My target was her right eye and I think the focus is acceptable for 0.95. But to each there own. You might try being a bit more positive and then add some constructive criticism instead of ripping me up in one of my first posts here. Thats not very inviting for newcomers.

Matt

I'm not sure I get what his settings and equipment have to do with a photo of yours being OOF?

The image that mksurfer posted is out of focus. I imagine that one could sharpen it a bit in post and save it but as it is, I would not have posted it.

Have you shot at 0.95? It's really a matter of opinion. Her right eye is in focus enough for me. I thought the image was nice. Apparently not enough for some of the people in this forum. I love all the negativity in this place! Really makes me want to post more! As far as his gear goes.... if you're not accustomed to shooting at a really wide aperture then most of the photos that come out of my 0.95 lens will look "out of focus" or too soft. But whatever. I don't mind constructive criticism but to be completely negative is not right. It's apparent that there is a clicky group of people here that are critical of anyone new? If you really want to nitpick me go look at the bigger files on flickr. The details are much sharper on the full size images and her right eye and lower lid as well as a section of her hair are pretty sharp. I thought that photography is an expression of what you like and not some generic template that everyone has to follow.

I think that this is just one of those conversations that somehow has got off on the wrong foot. Best to move on.

Matt I have. With the Leica 50.95 Noctilux. There is a thread in the Leica section. But the closet eye to camera should be sharp in my opinion and sharpness isn't a huge factor all the time for me but in this case I do think the image is a bit to soft.

I shot with and owned fast primes for decades and also have owned some amazing auto focus fast lenses with very shallow DoF. 200 2L and 85 1.2 aspherical( manual focus) and 85L.
The defensive argument that I haven't shot with fast glass still doesn't address your image and when making a statement like that you shouldn't assume that those that post here haven't shot a lot with really fast glass.
