This is a nice thread,,covers alot,,We have 2- XSi & 2- 40Ds,,use them all the time and we are NOT into video,,so will be keeping them ,,we have tried the T3i,,60D,,7D,,and returned them all..so you might keep your XSi and up grade your lens to something,so you don,t have to change lens so much??
Wife and i did get new cameras,,but our choice was G15 & SX50HS and we like both of them and lot less to carry around and don,t feel we lost any IQ..
just our 2 cents.
Ron

So I'm looking to upgrade and while I'm at it, AF Microadjustment should be included to get the best out of my 70-200 (has some front focusing).

Get a 50D if price is an major consideration - all cross points with MF adjustment. Image quality not much different - all the crop sensors are close at 100-400 iso.
great camera - bargain prices - and easy to find low shutter counts.

If you do birding - then 7D is a better fit with better AF

If you need better high ISO performance but still want to stay crop with birding - then 70D

If you are primarily landscape - 6D for that and get 50D/7D/70D for birding. Give Xsi to kids or spouse.

Godox/Flashpoint r2 system, plus some canon stuff.

If you do landscape, go full frame. a 5DII or 6D would be great.

I was going to say the same thing, but it would require a new wide or ultra wide lens. A 5Dc would fit very well with a used 17-40L and have a similar budget to a new 70D. The 5Dc also does not have MFA. It is a difficult toss up between the 5D2 and 6D depending on prices. The 5D2 is still very capable and an extremely worthy camera, but the 6D with its high ISO and lowlight AF ability would be REALLY nice for shooting outdoors at night.

5D4 or 6D2..... Waiting to find out which I buy | 8-15L |24-70mm f/4L IS | 24L II | 40mm pancake | 100L IS | 70-200mm f/2.8L IS mk2 | 400mm f/4 DO IS
