OK, While I shoot mainly outdoor motorsports, I've began seeking other venues and opportunities. This has led to some indoor "still" shooting. My questions revolve around remote/wireless file transfer. I can tell you that the WFT-E7A is a way over priced option at this time. Just can't justify the cost for no more than I'm needing the wireless capabilities right now. I've read a lil about an Eye-Fi Card, but apparently, it only transfer to an Apple product, i.e. i-pad, or through Adobe Lightroom.
What are my options to wireless, or tethered, transfer to a PC? I've shot the last two weekends in a room where a tether prob would not have been a bad option. I use Photoshop exclusively, no need for Lightroom. Can the 5D3 be effectively tethered to a PC? and with reasonable transfer speeds (quicker than popping the CF card out and uploading with a card reader?)

Yes, EOS Utility(the free Canon program that came with your camera) is quite versatile and very fast. I use it frequently.

Now I do use Zoombrowser for slideshow onsite. Can I tether to my PC and snag through ZB?

The Eyefi card goes to laptops, tablets, etc. I am not sure what you saw that tells you it is an apple only thing?

I have my 5D3 sending to my Google Nexus 7, for example, or to my laptop when I go home.

If you can live with a wire, any Android device and DSLR controller (an affordable app)

And as mentioned, EOS utility and USB cable.

You can download images with ZB(I think that it merely calls up EU to do it) but you can't control the camera by tether through ZB.

When I got my WFT-E5B for my 7D, I bought a used one. Half the cost. Still a cost, but it was OK with me.

OK, I managed to to tinker a lil. Connected the camera via USB to PC and laptop. In both set-ups, with the DCIM folder open, I was able to shoot and the image "pop up". Then, suddenly, it stopped working! With the camera connected, no matter which button is touched on the camera, the display blinks the dreaded "busy" note, and will not function! WTH??!! Any guesses on what is happening??

the only usuable option in EOS Utility in "monitor folder"
not looking to "control camera" from PC. would just like to shoot tethered once in awhile, lol.
what's baffling is that it worked for a bit.
