We can shoot 4K now with the Canon 5D3, with ML loaded.

And to boot, you can use different lenses, for thinner DOF, or longer reach, etc vs the phone.

Of course Canon as a video shooter is not done but it is rather amazing how good something as simple as a tablet can do.

Wow! If you shoot the 5D MkIII at F13, degrade the video by boosting the contrast and saturation and over-sharpening, you can make it look like a camera-phone.

Now can we see the Note 3 shooting at 200mm and f4 please?

Are you really suggesting that a phone which has virtually no manual settings is a better video camera than a 5DIII...? The very beginning of this test tells you why it's resolution doesn't matter, the fact that it's shutter is pushed like crazy for daylight video makes it basically worthless as a video camera imo.

I love alarmist threads like this. Right off the bat, you can tell the video was shot in favor of the tablet

The info and the tech that makes this possible are very interesting. The post would be easier to digest without any backlash if the title and inferences were not so silly.

Yes, Note 3 > 5D3 for video, solely based on the fact that it shoots 4K.

Seems like the TS wakes up about once to twice a year pointing out other offerings "better" than Canon, then disappears for a while. Also some of the past observations about Canon capabilities are questionable at best. Getting off the subscription for this thread, as it seems to be just a bit of pot stirring. :)

Frankly, I don't know how Canon has stuck around so long, now that we have the Brownie and the Polaroid, which make photography so easily accessible to everyone.

I guess Canon better shut down their broadcast and cinema divisions.

isn't that awesome!

Or how good a phone can do? To think that you can, in some circumstances, rival a broadcast camera in resolution!(I did not say quality folks...)

Lovely - the 5D3 image doesn't hold up to a mobile phone?

Did someone forgot to tell that guy that he needs to focus if using a much, much narrower DoF?

Are we forgetting the importance of good glass?
