Thank you! Many enclosures are being put together hastily on streets in front of restaurants to allow outdoor dining. This one is more elaborate than most. I braced against a light pole and had time for multiple shots, since the painter was so absorbed in her work that she never looked around and caught me.

Was this in your town where you live OhLook?

I wasn’t sure whether to post this under ‘People at Work’ or ‘Train Shots’! The miniature railway that runs along Hasting’s seafront. Not a job for me... I don’t think I’d fit in the cab!

Great photos Tim
Any idea what the log is?

Looks an old mill.

Timber and all its aspects has always been of much interest in my life

It is a Redwood log. Sturgeon's Mill (external link) is a working sawmill museum open on 4 weekends a year.

It is 106 years old and is steam powered.

Western Sonoma County has some significant stands of Redwood trees. Nearby Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve has two remarkable Redwood trees, one is over 1400 years old and the other is over 310 feet tall.

Unfortunately in the 1800's and early 1900's much of the Coastal Redwood forest was logged. Museums are rife with historical photographs of loggers with their saws, sitting on huge Redwood stumps.

Thanks for the information Tim.
Redwood is a magnificent timber from my understanding.
Very nice to see these old working exhibits and steam too.

I imagine the smell from that mill would be rather nice.
