Ok here goes:
Sorry to repeat this question, but i just sold my 300D and now I'm looking for my next camera. The 20D is what I'm wanting, but will take a XT. How do the 2 compare when shooting in low light/available light situations. That is where I'm concerened the most. I just read an article in the March 2006 issue of POPULA PHOTOGRAPHY that said the XT had high noise at ISO 1600. Is this true? If I go with the XT I'll be getting the grip also. I'll only be getting the 20D if I can find a good used one. Also is it true that the 20D focuses better than the XT?

Any other info appreciated.

Thanks.

Well from the DP review it seems the XT and 20D are pretty close to having the same noise at all ISO..Take a look over there I dont think its to bad.
I have a XT and the grip and I was thinking of selling it for a 20D but there is not enough reson to go for a little jump. Now if I was to start over and had the money for either I woulda bought the 20D. Little higher fps, heard many times it focus better in low light. The 20D goes to ISO3200 but that isnt a concern for me since I dont really ever go over ISO400
I am saving the money instead of selling mine and getting some good glass

As you are "starting over" get the 20D -- you won't be disappointed. As for the grip, you can always save up for it in the future.

The 20D not only has a more accurate and faster AF system but a larger and brighter viewfinder.

I use both the 20D and 350D at birds, and I'm equally comfortable in picking any of the two for any situation (except flying birds where the 20D's 5 fps makes it superior). Image quality is equivalent and RAW buffer is about the same (6 shots). If you don't shoot action (where you need more fps), you don't need ISO 3200 or you rarely shoot with lenses brighter than f/2.8 (20D's AF is more accurate here, but the 350D's AF work good enough too), then the XT is a cheaper, worthy alternative. I like the sound of the XT's shutter more than my 20D's.

Image quality will probably be more impacted by the lens used between these two cameras. I have the 300D (same control setup as the XT?) and the 20D and find the 20D much easier to manipulate while shooting. And yes, a much brighter viewfinder.
