Okay, so I am looking at getting an Arca-Swiss compatible clamp for my tripod because of my Luma-Cinch plate. It's not the greatest tripod, but it's certainly not the worst. I don't use one often enough to merit shelling out a couple hundred bucks for a "good" one.. At any rate...

I have a ballhead that looks exactly like this one (Head.jpg) . When I unscrew the clamp/base, I would have expected to see the anti-sway/anti-swivel barbs on the ball-end side, however they are on the bottom of the clamp. Opposite to what is shown here (ClampBottom.jpg).

So my question is: Would the Arca-Swiss clamp just get screwed on to the base (one pictured above - so the Arca-swiss quick-release clamp screwed to the original quick-release clamp) or would I have to get a whole new ballhead with a Arca-Swiss compatible clamp?

Thanks!

If it matters, the tripod is a Dolica AX620B100.

It's hard to tell from the photo, (clamp still attached, can;t see what happens after it's removed) and I'm not sure I'm clear from your description. ???

Most ballheads will allow you to unscrew the clamp.

If the threads match that's all you need unless weight becomes a problem. Judging from the small ballhead, I'm assuming you are not going to be toting a heavy load.

The additional anti twist stuff is not on all heads or clamps, nor is it a universal thing. You can't expect one size fit's all here.
Without that match up, you could simply use loctite instead. (a thread locker that helps prevent unwanted unscrewing)

If you want to have all the added safety of the anti twist apparatus, I think you need to look at a more matched set.

Thanks for the reply... I will see if I cannot provide a greater description via photographs, but based on what you've stated, with no standards, I might not find a perfect match regardless...

Thanks again...
