I'm about to order a Nature Trekker and was curious if anyone uses one of the gitzo carbon fiber tripods strapped on there with the tripod attachment like the 1228. Does it fit?
I'd appreciate any feedback.

The Manfrottos can be more challenging as the lever lock mechanism takes up much more space, requiring the legs to be further apart. However the Manfrottos will fit too, but require much more effort to get the leg ends into the holder. Canon 6D, 1DmkII, IR modified 5DII with lots of Canon L, TSE and Zeiss ZE lenses

Mike, thanks for the detail there. That was very helpful. You seem to have a setup with RRS stuff that I've been eyeing but not quite ready to put down the cash. James
