Local farmer and musician, just before his 70th birthday. Candid taken with 70-200 f4 IS just as his Rake 'n Scrape band finished a set.

Really like the placement here, bordered on the left with space to look into on the right. I also find the top border good, using the hat to frame his head. Those lines on his face must have a great story to tell and the light across his face adds intrigue.
Sadly for me though, his expression lets him down, it's almost as though he didn't enjoy his music?
Looking at your location, get back out to him, get an image of enjoyment and throw just a little pop of a catchlight into his eyes. This is a fantastic image, just waiting to happen...


Tons of enthusiasm, loads of kit, limited skill...

I really like this shot, including the expression. Maybe he's thinking about turning 70 or that someone blew a note in the last song. I do agree that a catchlight would improve the photo considerably.
