Looks like there's going to be some huge photo ops for Warbird fans this Aug. The story is here.

I'm looking forward to a lot of photos in the Transportation section once things get under way. Please remember to use low shutter speeds so you don't freeze the props.

From reading the article it sounds like it's in great shape & won't attempt any of the hops unless the weather is ideal. It's an ambitious plan but considering how many made the trip during the war it's certainly do able; even for an antique.

TRUE, but what an adventure. At least we have better flight suits now than when they flew the Atlantic to go to war.

This will be an amazing thing to see - just need them to announce which airshows this will be at so I can start making plans.

Sadly as it's not until August they definaetly miss the Waddington Airshow which is a bummer since I have rented the Sigma 50-500 lens for that one. May have to convince my wife I need to rent it a second time :)

Not may, MUST is the right term. It will be very historic considering just how many today have never seen more than one flying at an air show. Add to that just how important they were in Britain's war effort. My father has to have served as flight engineer on the Canadian Lanc based on it's RCAF service history. I'll have to rag my sister again about finding his flight logs since she insisted on keeping all of his RCAF stuff when he passed away.

'Must' does sound right. If it's at an airshow I can get to i'll make it a must :)

Hoping the stay gets extended for Duxford. Seeing two would be incredible - was talking not long ago to a woman who remembers dozens flying over her house - can't even imagine what that would be like. Also hoping to book a taxi ride in Just Jane at some point, bit pricey but to actually be inside the thing must be an experience.

List of August Airshows where you can see both Lancasters

http://www.warplane.com/lancaster-2014-uk-tour.aspx (external link)

Sadly only a few of these are even remotely likely for me so I have my fingers crossed they extend the stay a few weeks and also to the Duxford Airshow.

I hope you are going to say that the logs are going to go to a war museum and not be lost. I have seen one lancaster navigators work, very impressive and a long flight under difficult circumstances.

Sadly, it is looking unlikely for me, too. All the shows are in the south, although at least Sywel is getting up into the midlands. Hopefully, I may get to that.

It's a real pity that she won't be getting here in time for Flying Legends, as that would be the ideal show for them.

It's a shame they are all so far south - might make it to the little gransden airshow myself. It's the only one near enough to us and where we aren't already away somewhere. Still hoping it gets extended for Duxford and I want to do that this year but don't think i'll get away with renting the big lens for another 2 airshows after Waddington.

Flying Legends would have been the ideal show, only been to that one once but the final fly by is worth the entry fee alone and having 2 Lancasters in there would have been stunning.

Well you have got prestwick Up North! I guess I will be visiting my mother the weekend of the 17th, she lives about 10 miles from Sywell. Actually a visit to the airfield on a nice quiet mid week afternoon can be quite interesting too.
